About SMI

Strategic Marketing International (SMI) is actively marketing and selling premier properties in Eagle’s Nest and Beech Mountain, NC. We are seeking a motivated and outgoing Lees‑McRae student to join our team as a Real Estate & Marketing Intern. This is a hands‑on opportunity to gain experience in both sales and marketing while learning the real estate industry from the ground up.

Purpose of the Role

Support small, high‑impact marketing tasks tied to real‑estate–adjacent initiatives with a focus on efficient execution and clear reporting.

Responsibilities

Assist in meeting prospective buyers at properties and securing/locking up showings.

Possibly build and send one micro‑newsletter per month (Mailchimp/HubSpot or similar) to a small stakeholder list; track opens/clicks.

Refresh a simple landing page/one‑pager with property/venue info and inquiry form; coordinate small updates with the Web team.

Create 1–2 lightweight assets per month (flyer, social graphics, short video/reel).

Track 3–5 core KPIs (inquiries, showings, form fills, page views, email CTR, social reach) and deliver a monthly one‑page report.

Maintain a mini CRM list of contacts (brokers, HOAs, venue managers, civic partners) and log touchpoints.

Assist with 1–2 outreach tasks weekly (DM/email introductions, follow‑ups, confirming details for upcoming events or listings).

Help prepare and distribute marketing materials (flyers, social media posts, presentations).

Visit local real estate agencies to share information about properties.

Support open houses, community events, and other marketing activities.

Provide day‑to‑day support for sales and marketing initiatives.

 

Essential Skills

Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills – confident in both written and verbal interactions with buyers, brokers, and community partners.

Digital Marketing Basics – experience with email platforms (Mailchimp/HubSpot), social media, and light web updates.

Content Creation – ability to design flyers, graphics, or short videos using tools like Canva or Adobe Express.

Organization & Time Management – dependable, detail-oriented, and able to balance flexible hours with coursework.

Professionalism in Real Estate Settings – presentable, reliable, and comfortable assisting at property tours, open houses, and events.

 

Learning Outcomes

Direct exposure to real estate sales and customer interactions.

Practical marketing skills in both digital and print formats.

Understanding of real estate operations and agency relationships.

Experience in event preparation and execution.

 

Qualifications

Current Lees‑McRae student (Business, Marketing, or related fields preferred).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Vehicle

Dependable, professional, and detail‑oriented.

Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings/weekends.

Interest in real estate or marketing career paths.

 

Schedule & Compensation

Hours: ~5 hours per week on average; some weeks may be more or less depending on events and course load. Scheduling is flexible around classes.

Compensation: Internship credit may be available through Lees‑McRae Career Services. A stipend or $15 hourly pay may be offered based on schedule and experience.
