Gallery Internship
Gallery Internship – Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation
The Florida Wildlife Corridor is a statewide network of connected lands and waters that supports wildlife and people. Nearly half of the 18-million-acre corridor is still in need of permanent protection. Using a science-based approach, on-the-ground knowledge of the Corridor, and the support of tens of thousands of followers throughout the state and nation, the non-profit organization, the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation, works to identify and elevate the most pressing threats and opportunities facing the Corridor. We cultivate awareness and action through film, photography, painting, drawing, mapping, storytelling, and expeditions.
Wild Space Gallery is founded by the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation and located in the Warehouse Arts District of St. Petersburg, Florida. As an extension of the Foundation’s mission, Wild Space Gallery advances awareness of conservation issues within the state of Florida. Exhibits rotate regularly and are presented in an open showcase setting. The gallery features the works of locally and nationally renowned artists whose varied stories display an appreciation of nature and its transformative power to connect, heal, and endure. By curating thought-provoking exhibitions, we create a space where art becomes the vessel for engaging, challenging, and inspiring collaborative ideas towards protecting Florida’s wild places.
The Gallery Intern will work closely with our Gallery Director and Curator on a variety of projects and in several key roles. The Gallery intern will plan, write, coordinate, and give guided tours of installments for the gallery space, be present in the gallery during opening hours (including Saturday afternoons), help facilitate events, work on special projects and create a project of their own. The ideal candidate will be an organized, passionate, and detail-oriented individual who loves working in a creative team environment and has excellent critical thinking skills, ability to take initiative and work independently, and have some experience in the arts. This internship offers an immersive experience of the local art scene through interfacing with nationally renowned contemporary art and artists and behind-the-scenes access to art exhibitions and events.
