Horticultural Technician

A Horticultural Technician is responsible for the cultivation, care, and maintenance of plants, landscapes, and green spaces. This role combines hands-on gardening with technical knowledge of plant biology, soil science, and sustainable landscape practices.


 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plant, cultivate, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, turf, and other vegetation.
     
  • Perform routine garden and landscape maintenance, including watering, weeding, mulching, pruning, trimming, mowing, and edging.
     
  • Monitor plant health, identify pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
     
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, or natural remedies in accordance with best practices and safety standards.
     
  • Install, operate, and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution.
     
  • Design and implement seasonal planting schedules and landscape improvements.
     
  • Support sustainable gardening practices and promote environmental stewardship.
     


 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a gardener, landscaper, or in a related horticultural role.
     
  • Knowledge of plants, soils, fertilizers, irrigation systems, and sustainable gardening methods.
     
  • Basic understanding of landscape design principles and plant aesthetics.
     
  • Ability to identify common pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
     
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality landscapes.
     
  • Good time management skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
     
  • Experience with organic or environmentally friendly horticultural practices.
     
  • Creativity and an eye for design in outdoor spaces.
