About You

  • Studying or graduated from a program in video production, film, television, digital media, multimedia, video editing, motion graphics, or a related field.
  • Passionate about video editing, visual storytelling, content creation, entertainment, music, and digital media.
  • Familiar with video production equipment such as DSLR or mirrorless cameras, stabilizers, lighting, lenses, microphones, and related production tools.
  • Comfortable using video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, or CapCut.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, motion graphics, color correction, audio editing, or animation is considered an asset.
  • Strong sense of pacing, visual storytelling, composition, music, and audience engagement.
  • Familiar with short-form and long-form video formats across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and other digital platforms.
  • Interested in current video trends, editing techniques, platform formats, and digital storytelling styles.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop fresh concepts for videos, campaigns, promotional content, and social media.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Highly organized, motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with video, editorial, social media, marketing, music, and creative teams.
  • Proactive and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Professional and capable of handling confidential information and unreleased content.
  • Available part-time (minimum 8 hours/week) or full-time for at least 4 months.
  • Previous video editing, videography, motion graphics, or content creation experience is considered an asset.

Video Editor Internship Role

Funktasy – Magazine & Music Group is looking for highly motivated, creative, and organized individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in video editing, video production, digital storytelling, motion graphics, and entertainment media.

As part of the Video team, you will contribute to content across Funktasy Magazine, Funktasy Music Group, social media, YouTube, artists, brand partnerships, and promotional campaigns. Projects may include interviews, entertainment features, music content, documentaries, product features, social media videos, promotional campaigns, event coverage, and other digital productions.

Throughout the internship, you’ll gain practical experience with video editing, post-production, visual storytelling, short-form and long-form content, motion graphics, social video, and digital publishing while collaborating with Funktasy’s editorial, social media, marketing, music, and creative teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Edit engaging short-form and long-form video content for Funktasy Magazine, Funktasy Music Group, YouTube, social media, artists, and brand campaigns.
  • Create and adapt video content for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and other digital platforms.
  • Use editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, CapCut, Photoshop, and other creative tools as appropriate to each project.
  • Transform raw footage, interviews, editorial material, music content, and creative assets into polished and engaging video productions.
  • Develop strong pacing, transitions, graphics, titles, music, sound, and visual storytelling appropriate to each production.
  • Assist with editing interviews, documentaries, entertainment features, promotional videos, music-related content, product features, and event coverage.
  • Contribute creative concepts, storyboards, editing approaches, and visual ideas for video campaigns and digital productions.
  • Collaborate with Funktasy’s editorial, social media, marketing, graphic design, music, and multimedia teams on cross-platform projects.
  • Support social media and promotional teams with timely video content for campaigns, releases, editorial features, partnerships, and audience engagement.
  • Research video trends, editing styles, viral formats, platform developments, and emerging creative techniques.
  • Source relevant media and content when required while following project guidelines and applicable usage requirements.
  • Assist with filming and video production at locations, events, interviews, concerts, or other productions when opportunities arise and location permits.
  • Work with cameras, lighting, microphones, stabilizers, and other production equipment when required.
  • Organize project files, footage, exports, graphics, audio, and other production assets using established workflows.
  • Review completed edits for visual quality, audio quality, accuracy, formatting, and platform specifications before delivery.
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions while maintaining creative consistency and project deadlines.
  • Contribute to special video, multimedia, social media, artist, editorial, and brand-partnership projects throughout the internship.

  • Creative Collaboration – Work with Funktasy’s editorial, social media, marketing, graphic design, music, and multimedia teams on real-world productions.
  • Trend & Platform Insight – Strengthen your understanding of video trends, platform formats, visual storytelling, and audience engagement across digital media.
  • Mentorship & Guidance – Receive guidance from Funktasy’s creative, multimedia, marketing, and production teams while developing technical and storytelling skills.
  • Networking Opportunities – Build connections with artists, creators, producers, brands, and other entertainment industry professionals.
  • Professional References – References may be provided upon successful completion of the internship.

Internship Terms & Conditions

  • Funktasy Internship Programs are unpaid. Upon request, Funktasy is willing to work with a student to receive academic credit through their school/university program.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • We do not offer housing or travel accommodations.
  • We do not offer any work visas for international students.
  • All internship programs are in English.

Duration & Schedule

  • Length: Standard internship term is 4 months (approx. 140 hours total). Extensions may be available if desired.
  • Weekly Commitment: 8 hours per week, with half of those hours (4 hrs/week) dedicated to mandatory online group meetings.
  • Start Dates: Internships begin every two months (bi-monthly start dates). Placements are first-come, first-served.
  • Registration: We recommend applying 3–6 months in advance to secure your preferred term.
  • School Credit: If your school requires additional hours for credit, schedules can be adjusted accordingly.

Location

  • Hybrid/online – Remote from Canada, U.S.A. or Europe.
