
Internship in Mobile App Development
The Company
Founded in December 2021 on the premise that teen and young adult mental health and physical health are inextricably linked, the Uneo app was launched to provide a safe, engaging solution to track personal health goals, access activities to improve one’s mental and physical health and to access critical resources needed in a crisis. The team is collaborating with local leaders and national partners to develop an innovative solution that focuses on user adoption and helps to tackle health and digital equity including partnering with teams that work with disadvantaged populations.
Position Description
This paid internship would be up to twenty (20) hours per week (negotiable) and will report to Uneo Health’s Co-Founder and chief technology officer (CTO) to help shape the technical design and development of this new, innovative solution with an opportunity to gain experience and provide support in the growth and expansion of a start-up.
Position Scope
In this position, the candidate will gain experience with:
- Get hands-on experience in developing the consumer app both back-end infrastructure support through AWS Amplify and front-end app development using React Native.
- “Lean Startup” principles including Human Centered Design helping to translate design principles and product team requirements into usable, useful, and efficient user experience design
- Working with a start-up software application team, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to design and evaluate new features
Position Requirements
This position is a good fit if you:
- Have experience in coding apps using React and React Native
- Are a full or part-time college student studying computer science
- Can work with and meet established objectives, priorities, and deadlines on a consistent basis
- You are proficient in the concepts of gamification, UI design, techniques, and technologies
- Work well in a dynamic, “start-up” environment
- Can innovate and develop out-of-the-box solutions to complex user interaction problems
- Possess solid communication, planning and organizational skills
- Have excellent problem-solving skills and have good judgment and decision making
- Can build and foster relationships with coworkers and clients
- Are goal-oriented and a self-starter
- Can maintain compliance with Uneo’s policies, procedures, and mission statement
- Will always adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements in all ways and with respect to any aspect of the data accessed or services rendered in the undertaking of the position
