Non-Profit Internship Opportunity — The Pulsera Project
Location: James Island, SC
Commitment: August–June preferred (with possibility to extend into summer)
Schedule: Flexible | 10–20 hours/week | Weekdays between 8AM–3PM
Compensation: Hourly pay + bonus for full academic-year commitment
The Pulsera Project is a nonprofit organization that supports artists in Guatemala and Nicaragua by purchasing their handwoven bracelets—pulseras in Spanish—and partnering with students across the U.S. to sell them while learning about Central American culture, language, fair trade, and social justice.
We’re looking for a passionate, reliable intern to join our team in Charleston. This is a hands-on opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at nonprofit operations while contributing to a mission rooted in solidarity and education.
What You'll Do
Your daily tasks might include:
- Counting and sorting pulseras
- Packing and shipping fundraising boxes
- Creating or organizing educational materials for students
- Taking photos and videos for social media
- Brainstorming marketing and outreach ideas
- Answering emails and assisting with teacher or student support
- Stuffing folders and preparing mailers
- Helping with general office organization
Each day will be different—some tasks are creative, others are repetitive, but all are important!
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
- Is interested in philanthropy, non-profits, education or international development
- Is an enthusiastic, reliable self-starter
- Can stay focused through detail-oriented or repetitive tasks
- (Bonus) Speaks Spanish or is interested in language learning
- Is interested in some or all of the following fields: disability rights, women’s rights, communications, international sustainable development, permaculture, indigenous cultural preservation, housing initiatives, education
