Department: Operations & Community Relations

Location: Jacksonville, FL (Hodges Stadium & Training Sites)

Position Type: Internship (Unpaid; For-Credit Preferred and Experience)

Term: August – December 2025 (Flexible Start/End Dates)

Time Commitment: Up to 20 hours/week; includes evenings and weekends for home matches

 

Position Summary:

Sporting Jax is seeking dedicated, organized, and proactive individuals to join our Game Day Operations Internship Program. Interns will play a vital role in supporting game day logistics, training sessions, and team equipment management and more. This opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of professional soccer operations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Match Day Operations:

Assist with stadium and field setup (barricades, branding, signage, benches, and hydration stations)

Prepare and maintain locker rooms for home and away teams, referees, and technical staff

Support credential distribution and manage access to field-level and VIP zones

Act as a matchday runner assisting various operational departments with real-time needs

Oversee post-match teardown, equipment breakdown, and storage

 

Training & Equipment Support:

Set up and break down all team training equipment (balls, cones, mannequins, goals, etc.)

Ensure team gear, hydration, and support equipment are prepped and available daily

Maintain cleanliness and functionality of locker rooms, technical areas, and equipment rooms

Support the equipment manager with tracking and organizing team inventory

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods during training and matchdays

Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Able to load and unload equipment from storage spaces, vehicles, and field setups

 

Internship Details:

Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, variable based on match and training needs

Location: Hodges Stadium and designated training facilities

Supervision: Directly reports to the Operations Manager

Compensation: Unpaid (for-credit preferred); access to networking opportunities and team gear and more.

 

Learning Outcomes:

Develop first-hand experience managing the daily logistics of a professional soccer team

Learn the operational demands and protocols of a high-performance sports environment

Strengthen time management, inventory control, and communication skills

Serve as a key liaison between technical staff and team operations

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Current student or recent graduate in Sports Management, Event Management, or related field

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Reliable, punctual, and capable of working under pressure

Previous experience in athletics, equipment operations, or logistics is a plus

Must be available on match days and during scheduled training sessions
