Human Resources Generalist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Payroll & Benefits Administration (40%)

  • Administer payroll processes, including reviewing bi-weekly timesheets and ensuring payroll accuracy.
  • Manage third-party benefit coordination, including health, dental, and vision insurance enrollments and renewals.
  • Track PTO balances, audit records, and ensure compliance with paid leave policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and assist with workers’ compensation claims.

Employee Relations & Compliance (30%)

  • Provide guidance to managers on HR best practices, compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage employee grievances and disciplinary processes, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Conduct HR research to propose policy updates that align with compliance requirements and organizational needs.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and internal policies to ensure compliance with Wisconsin labor laws.

Hiring & Onboarding (10%)

  • Post job openings, collect and log applications, and coordinate interviews with hiring teams.
  • Process new hire paperwork, conduct initial orientation, and maintain employee files.
  • Develop and implement equitable hiring strategies to enhance diversity and inclusion.

Special Projects & People Analytics (10%)

  • Track and analyze employee retention, engagement, and performance data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop reports and presentations to support leadership in decision-making and workforce planning.
  • Research cost-effective professional development strategies for staff.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Efforts (5%)

  • Develop and execute strategies to ensure fair treatment and full inclusion of all staff.
  • Assist in facilitating DEI training and managing the organization's Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Plans.

Other Duties (5%)

  • Support organizational initiatives, such as HR process improvements and policy updates.
  • Assist with reception duties and engage in payroll administrative tasks.
  • Provide HR-related support to the Finance and Data teams as needed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience
