Start date: The neighborhood needs this position filled as soon as possible

The Rainier Beach Action Coalition (RBAC) is a grassroots neighborhood development action coalition devoted to implementing neighborhood responsiveness, renewal and development, focusing specifically on the implementation of the Rainier Beach Neighborhood Plan.  RBAC seeks to build a connected, sustainable and equitable neighborhood and organization, promoting the “made in Rainier Beach” concept, quality education, living wage jobs, affordable transportation and housing, and building community capacity in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood. RBAC promotes a safe place where people thrive and builds neighborhood capacity to enhance quality of life in  Rainier
Beach by addressing critical issues threatening the welfare of Rainier Beach residents. Position Summary
The Coordinator, Economic Development provides administrative and digital/virtual outreach support of the A Place For Everyone's economic development operations. Coordinator will engage in neighborhood capacity building and technical assistance through small business engagement; economic development grants coordination (invoicing, narrative report preparation), relationship building and organizational support in order to reduce displacement of Rainier Beach businesses and residents.

Scope of Work
● Neighborhood business capacity building, technical assistance
○ Administer Rainier Beach Economic Development Roundtable
(RBEDR) outreach - meeting notices, meeting minutes, membership
development.
○ One on one business engagement and follow up via phone and video
○ Set up meetings with RBEDR and small business
○ Support community benefit oriented commercial placements at vacant
neighborhood properties

● Economic development grants coordination:
○ Maintain economic development contact and funding database (Little Green
Light), meeting notices, agendas, meeting minute publishing, distribution,
email blasts and messages
○ Gather field reports, review, compile, turn in to APE project specialist in a
timely manner
○ Support departmental fundraising goals, strategies and campaigns.

● Organizational Support:
○ Work with a variety of Branch and organizational workgroups to ensure
alignment of APE branding (fliers creation), messaging and distribution for
internal and external marketing and events.
○ Support Economic Development Strategist
■ Engagement support with neighborhood property owners and
emerging developments e.g., RBAC Growth Center, Rainier Beach
High School, Living Abode, Tubman Center for Health and Freedom
etc.
■ Administrative support with program, partnerships and event
coordination .
○ Attend strategic meetings:
■ Economic Development Team, RBAC Lead Team, Essentially
Southeast Seattle and others as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
The ideal candidate will have some combination of:
● Lived experience in the Rainier Beach community and surrounding areas and/or in
diverse, lower-income communities
● A deep understanding of the social, cultural, and systemic factors impacting community
economic development in under-invested in neighborhoods.
● Demonstrated experience in community outreach, business engagement and other
economic development initiatives, with a strong ability to build trust and meaningful
relationships with business owners, and neighborhood stakeholders.
● Experience organizing or supporting public events, community meetings, or economic
development interventions.
● Experience leading or coordinating teams, with the ability to supervise, motivate, and
support staff or volunteers in a community-based setting.
● Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports,
presentations, and outreach materials.

Minimum Requirements
● College Degree or experiential equivalent
● At least 3 years of full-time office work experience which includes one (1) year of experience working with complex processes in high quantity/high volume customer service and complex administrative functions.
● Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
● Ability to pass a background check and meet all compliance requirements as part of
school and community work.
● Must be proficient in Google Suites, the use of general office equipment, including copiers, printers, and scanners, screens
● A valid Washington State driver's license by time of hire.

● Coordinating economic development projects from beginning to end with outcomes report

Work Location: Seattle, WA
Work Setting: This is a position within Washington and is based out of our Seattle office. RBAC requires employees to be in-office daily. There will be an expectation to travel as needed for your work. A laptop will be supplied by RBAC.
