Digital Marketing & Public Relations Intern Job Description:
The Advocacy Bridge County is a non-profit organization that organizes the community to take action and advocate for children and families affected by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Juvenile Courts. The Advocacy Bridge County recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer advocates who zealously advocate for the best interest of children and families in the courtroom and the community.
Position Overview:
As a The Advocacy Bridge County Digital Marketing and Public Relations Intern, this position will provide a unique opportunity to build organizational capacity for a newly established organization and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families who are navigating the foster care system. Under the supervision of the Founding Executive Director, the Digital Marketing and Public Relations Intern will support The Advocacy Bridge County’s efforts to strategically implement the goals articulated in our Communications Plan into all aspects of our work, through our relationship with Bristol County communities. This role will involve collaborating with various teams to develop and implement initiatives that enhance our brand visibility across various social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok. This role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling, digital marketing, and social media trends. The intern will work closely with the Executive Director, Volunteer advocates and the Board of Directors to develop, curate, and manage content that engages our audience and promotes our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Capacity Building: Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive communications and marketing plan by identifying key objectives, target audiences, and effective strategies. Collaborate with the team to establish and document best practices, workflows, and tools to enhance the organization’s long-term communication and marketing infrastructure.
2. Content Creation: Develop, design, and schedule engaging and visually appealing content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok that aligns with our brand voice and goals using our social media calendar of topics and brand kit.
3. Social Media Management: Assist in managing our social media accounts by monitoring engagement, responding to comments/messages, and analyzing performance metrics.
4. Campaign Development: Support the creation of social media campaigns that promote key events, initiatives, and programs.
5. Brand Consistency: Ensure all social media content is consistent with our branding guidelines and voice.
6. Trend Analysis: Stay updated on social media trends, tools, and best practices to recommend new strategies for engagement.
7. Graphic Design: Use design tools (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite) to create graphics, videos, and other visual content using our brand kit.
8. Copywriting: Write compelling and concise captions, posts, and other marketing materials.
9. Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze social media performance using tools like Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or similar platforms; provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
10. Collaborative Projects: Work with various stakeholders, including staff and volunteers to gather content and stories that highlight our impact and initiatives.
Qualifications:
● Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.
● Demonstrated commitment to DEIJAB principles.
● Strong understanding of social media platforms, particularly Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok and their changing trends.
● Experience with social media content creation, including graphic design, video editing, and copywriting.
● Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) and design software (e.g., Canva, Capcut or other Video Editing Software, Adobe Creative Suite). ● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. ● Creative thinking and strong attention to detail.
● Passion for ensuring that children and family's needs are met and rights are protected while they are experiencing the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF).
● Strong organizational and time management skills.
● Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus especially in Spanish, Portuguese and/or Haitian Kryol.
● Lived experience is a plus. Our lens on ‘lived experience’ means you were in ‘out of home placement’ through any type of ‘foster care’ and/ or you are a parent/caregiver who has experienced DCF in your life. See our website for a full description.
