Job Summary:
Owensboro Community and Technical College is seeking a Transfer Coordinator responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience for students. The Transfer Coordinator will provide academic and personal support throughout the entire student lifecycle. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a fast-paced, open office environment with other success coaches and advisors.
The Transfer Coordinator will facilitate transfer advising; provide academic and transitional support; create partnerships and serve as a liaison with academic colleagues; and assess services for continuous improvement. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well with all students; knowledge of best practices in academic advising and support; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; effective oral and written communication skills; strong project management skills; and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
The duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate educational planning for an assigned caseload of students to ensure students are on track to meet goals. Advise students on academic programs and pathways. Advise students on opportunities for transfer and facilitate meetings with representatives from 4-year colleges. Serve as a liaison with academic colleagues.
- Serve as OCTC representative for the KCTCS Transfer Peer Team (TPT).
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with representatives from 4-year colleges.
- Communicate with local colleges regarding visiting OCTC and meeting with students. Set up a calendar with 4- year institution visits, promote the visits to OCTC students through email, social media etc.
- Stay current on changes to 4- year college degrees (especially majors that are high demand by our students and region); maintain transfer guides and keep up to date.
- Plan and implement program and transfer fair.
- Operate in a high-touch, service role focused on outreach, intervention, and student success. Serve as a student advocate, referring students to support and engagement resources as needed. Identify and provide outreach to students with resources, interventions, and support activities. Help students transition to their next phase of education.
- Participate in early alert and other intervention strategies to proactively intervene with at-risk students as needed. Develop and implement communication and targeted outreach plans including email, text, and social media.
- Partner with program coordinators to participate in student recruitment and transfer events as well as admission and enrollment activities.
- Coordinate and provide program tours for current and prospective students.
- Assist in the assessment of college resources and services. Track student progress. Recommend opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support and assist with presentations, special projects, and initiatives.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree plus three (3) years related experience is preferred.

- Ability to manage resources for students to access additional methods of learning.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to function well as a team member.
- Skilled in the use of computerized systems and databases.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
