Upstream Product Manager

Position Summary:
The Upstream Product Manager is primarily responsible for developing and driving key marketing, product development and business objectives for Sonex Health and The Institute of Ultrasound Guided Procedure’s product and service portfolio. This role will also help support other strategic marketing initiatives as needed by the organization. This role leads product development market research, identifies customer needs, and monitors industry-related activities to develop differentiated product and service development solutions for physicians and their healthcare teams. The upstream product manager will work closely and collaboratively with the R&D, clinical, and training & education teams to prioritize, drive and execute market and product opportunities that align with the company’s vision and business strategies. This person has experience in managing several simultaneous technical projects and timelines as well as defining user experience requirements.
 

Responsibilities:

• Leads the strategic mapping process to determine clear and specific priorities for Sonex Health’s and The Institute of Advanced Ultrasound Guided Procedures’ expanded products and services.
• Leads voice-of-customer (VOC) and voice-of-business (VOB) activities for current and proposed investments. Formulates recommendations based on data collected and advocates for customer needs while collaborating on product and service inputs.
• Constructively gathers input and challenges assumptions to refine product decisions. Makes recommendations on product launch cadence in Agile setting leveraging broad organizational, technical capability, and competitive perspectives.
• Defines user needs and collaboratively works with internal and external functional groups.
• Develops user personas to inform and prioritize and prioritize product requirements.
• Sets project timelines and deadlines for the team.
• Positively represents the company by visiting accounts and users to solicit feedback on company products and services.
• Leads strategic advisory board (SAB) activities related to expanded products and services.
• Leads formative and usability testing with customers to assess and confirm products and services meet customer and market needs.

• Leads through influence while working closely with Training & Education, R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Finance and other cross-functional teams to drive the execution of product and service strategies.

Experience and Qualifications:
• BA/BS required, Master’s/MBA strongly preferred.
• 3-5 years of medical device experience strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of product management, from conception to commercial success of products or services.
• Ability to collaborate with and influence key stakeholders without direct authority.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines and manage all aspects of product development with a high degree of attention to detail.
• Experience working in a cross-functional environment.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing environments and priorities.
• Strong planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills – ability to present in front of large and small audiences.
• Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and strategic skills.
• Works with a sense of urgency on all projects.
• Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with knowledge of the business and those supported.

Travel/Other Requirements:
• Interface with customers via exposure through field travel and medical meetings/conferences (~25% travel anticipated).
• Complete annual Quality Management System (QMS) training per QMS policy guidelines and assist with filing paperwork and required forms within Sonex Health QMS.
• Adhere to all Sonex Health company policies.
