GIS College Intern
The City of Camas is currently seeking a college intern for the Public Works Department. This position will be full-time, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am-4:30pm and is based in the IT department. The duration of the position will be through the end of August.
Duties to be performed include:
- Providing support for field mapping of sewer, water, and storm assets using Field maps and high precision GNSS receivers
- Verify and update asset details as defined by leads based on As-Built drawings
- Package as-build drawings for new developments to send to consultant for additional editing support from FLO Analytics
- Build maps and apps for use by field crews to find, query, and/or edit assets
- Audit existing AGO items and determine if any need to be deprecated
- Prepare help/training documents for using ArcGIS Online items and field applications
- Convert Stormwater and Sewer CCTV backlog data to necessary format for use in CUES and GIS
Applicants should be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in college at any degree level. Must be a self-motivated learner, organized and detail oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team-based environment.
Preferred candidates shall have:
- College coursework in Engineering, Surveying, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), or a related discipline
- Advanced Excel, GIS or other related computer skills
Work environment will be typical office and field environments. May be sitting for prolonged periods of time and/or working outside in all weather conditions. Field work may include taking photos of assets and dropping pins at locations.
