Job Description: AI Product & Program Management Intern (Summer 2025)
Company/Project: AI Storytelling Assistant Project (S-Corp registered in Texas)
Location: Remote
Position: Summer Internship (Unpaid, Part-time Remote, 20 hours/week)
Duration: 10-12 weeks (Summer 2025)
About the Project:
Are you passionate about the intersection of creative writing, Artificial Intelligence, and product strategy? The AI Storytelling Assistant is an innovative web application built on a modern Python and Azure stack. Our platform empowers writers to build intricate fictional worlds and craft compelling narratives by partnering with a context-aware AI.
We are looking for a driven, analytical, and user-focused student to join our team for a high-impact summer internship. This is a unique opportunity to take on a technical program management role, where you will use both your analytical skills and user empathy to guide the future of a live AI product.
Your Mission (What You'll Do):
As our AI Product & Program Management Intern, you will be the critical link between our technology, our users, and our strategy. You will analyze data, talk to users, test the product, and make data-driven recommendations that shape the entire project.
1. Beta Program Management & User-Centric Testing:
- You will be the manager and chief advocate for our end-user beta program.
- Recruit, onboard, and build relationships with a community of beta testers from creative writing communities.
- Conduct thorough end-to-end testing of the application from a user's perspective, identifying bugs, points of friction, and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate user feedback and your own testing insights into clear, well-documented bug reports and feature requests in our project backlog.
2. Data-Driven Product Analysis & Reporting with Power BI:
- Directly query our Azure PostgreSQL database using SQL to extract data on user behavior and AI usage patterns.
- Connect Power BI to the database to build and maintain insightful dashboards that visualize key product metrics.
- Analyze our ai_call_logs table to report on AI costs vs. feature usage, helping to determine the ROI of different AI-powered tools.
- Present your findings and data-driven recommendations to the project lead to influence product strategy and feature prioritization.
3. High-Level User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) Review:
- Perform heuristic evaluations of the application's interface. Is it intuitive? Is the information architecture clear?
- Review new UI/UX designs and provide feedback before they are implemented.
- Work with the project lead to prototype simple UI mockups or wireframes for new features to facilitate user feedback sessions.
4. Technical Documentation & Azure Cloud Familiarization:
- Create and maintain clear, concise documentation for both end-users and future developers.
- Learn the basics of our cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, including how to navigate the Azure Portal to check the status of core resources like App Service, PostgreSQL databases, and Storage Accounts.
- Update the in-app User Guide to help users master the application's more advanced features.
5. Community & Go-to-Market Strategy:
- Engage with our beta community on platforms like Discord or a dedicated forum to foster a collaborative environment.
- Assist in designing and writing content for a public-facing landing page to attract new users.
- Contribute to the project's go-to-market strategy by leveraging your insights from user feedback and data analysis.
What We're Looking For (Qualifications):
- Currently pursuing a degree in a field like Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related technical field with a strong interest in product management.
- Experience with SQL: You are comfortable writing queries to join tables, filter data, and perform aggregations to answer business questions.
- Analytical Mindset: You are a natural problem-solver who enjoys digging into data to find patterns and insights.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: You can clearly articulate technical issues to developers and translate user needs into product requirements.
- User Empathy: You are genuinely curious about how and why people use software and are driven to improve their experience.
- A strong interest in AI/LLMs and a desire to learn about cloud technologies.
Bonus Points (Nice to Have, Not Required):
- Familiarity with data visualization tools, especially Power BI.
- Any exposure to cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with Python and web frameworks like FastAPI or Flask.
- Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- A passion for creative writing, world-building, or storytelling.
Don't have all the bonus qualifications? That's okay! We value potential and passion over a perfect skill match. If you have strong SQL skills and genuine curiosity about AI products, we want to hear from you.
Why Intern With Us?
- Bridge Tech and Product: This isn't just a coding or marketing role. You'll operate at the intersection of technology, data, and user experience.
- High-Impact Work: Your analysis and reports will directly influence the product roadmap, feature prioritization, and business strategy.
- Develop In-Demand Skills: Gain practical experience in SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Azure, UX review, technical documentation, and AI product management—skills that are highly valued in the tech industry.
- Create a Powerful Portfolio: End the summer with a portfolio showcasing your ability to analyze a live application, build data dashboards, and contribute to the strategic direction of an innovative AI project.
