Data Engineering Support Specialist

This position requires a secret level security clearance.  

This is a part-time flexible Hybrid position (onsite 2-3 days per week) designed to accommodate students in good standing. The ideal candidate will be pursuing Masters Degree in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science or any related field. Seniors pursuing bachelors degree will be considered. A professor recommendation is required. Occasional travel to Scott Air Force Base IL is required. This position requires a U.S. Security Clearance. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for U.S. Security Clearances. Only candidates capable of obtaining a US Security Clearance need apply.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Perform tasks related to research, development, deployment, and enhancement of enterprise-wide analytics solutions using complex analytics techniques such as optimization methods, regression analysis, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling and programming, machine learning, natural language processing, deep learning, spatial analysis, robotics process automation, artificial intelligence, etc. on behalf of the government customer and Small Business Consulting Company (SBCC).

· Provide support to specialized projects supporting operational analysis, data engineering and software development.

· Must take direction well and be motivated self-starters and be open and excited to learn new technologies.

· Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral.

· Able to work with minimal supervision but as part of a team with the ability to understand and contribute to problem solving.

· Possess ability to gather and interpret data, use statistical techniques to identify patterns and trends, write and deliver reports, maintain databases, and provide assistance to management.

· Collects and organizes data and examines it to spot trends and glean information that can be used to make business decisions.

· Requires understanding of data structures and business processes.

· May prepare detailed specifications from which software or analytical programs will be written.

· May also perform database design, installation, development, and tuning.

· Additionally, may be required to provide administrative and clerical support specifically dedicated to the requirements of the project team.

· Hybrid/Remote with occasional on-site duties at Scott Air Force Base.

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel required

· Commute to and from Scott AFB, IL as needed.

Required education and experience

· Pursuing Master’s degree in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR

· Rising Senior pursuing bachelor degree in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

Preferred education and experience

· Data Science tools such as R, Python, SQL, Java and JavaScript

· User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design

· Pursing Master’s Degree: Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

· Pursuing Bachelor Degree (entering Senior year): Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

Additional required eligibility requirements

· Lives in or commutable distance to Scott AFB IL.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

· United States Citizen.

· Ability to obtain secret clearance.
