Job Summary:
The Sports Information Director (SID) is responsible for promoting and publicizing the high school's athletic programs and student-athletes. This includes managing media relations, maintaining statistics and records, coordinating game-day operations, updating social media and the athletics website, and serving as a liaison between the school, media, and community. The SID plays a vital role in celebrating student-athlete achievements and enhancing the school’s sports profile.
Key Responsibilities:

Media & Communications
- Write and distribute press releases, game recaps, and athlete features.
- Coordinate with local media outlets for coverage of athletic events.
- Serve as the point of contact for media inquiries.

Digital Content Management
- Maintain and update the athletic department’s website and social media accounts.
- Produce multimedia content, including photos, videos, graphics, and livestreams.
- Create and publish weekly/monthly athletic newsletters.

Statistical Reporting
- Track and record stats for all athletic events (individual and team).
- Report scores and player statistics to state associations, conference officials, and media.
- Manage historical records of team performance and athlete achievements.

Game Day Operations
- Assist in organizing and managing game-day logistics (e.g., announcers, scoreboard, livestreaming).
- Assist in the preparation of game programs, rosters, and signage.
- Coordinate post-game interviews and photo opportunities.

Athlete Recognition
- Coordinate athlete of the week/month awards and senior spotlights.
- Prepare nominations for all-conference, all-state, and other recognitions.
- Assist with athletic award ceremonies and season recaps.

Administrative Duties
- Work with coaches and athletic director to ensure accurate information and updates.
- Help with scheduling and promoting athletic events.
- Support compliance with league and state athletic regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, sports management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in sports communication, journalism, or media relations (preferred at high school or college level).
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, website CMS (e.g., WordPress), and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop).
- Basic knowledge of sports rules and statistics.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:
- Requires flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- May involve standing for long periods and lifting equipment (cameras, signage, etc.).
