Program Intern
June - August 2019 • Bogotá, Colombia
What I liked
The subject of the internship was incredibly interesting! You get to meet a lot of people working in the refugee area and you get to see first-hand the work it takes to deal with public elected officials regarding a contentious topic like refugees.
What I wish was different
Many of the work is administrative office work with your team. I wish that I would have more on-field experience but interns are not allowed to go on field missions. Perhaps a shadowing program where you get to shadow other high-level officials would have been interesting.
Advice
Its a lot of administrative work but worth it if you are interested in working with refugees. Furthermore, you get a first-hand look at working in the UN!
