I loved my colleagues and all the great intern-related events that took place almost every week.
What I wish was different
I wish we would've had more direction for our summer project, it kept changing at and at our final presentation we didnt have much to say.
Advice
Sherwin-Williams is a great company that really takes care of their employees. It was a fun and inclusive environment, I would definitely return upon graduation given the chance.

Process Chemistry and Engineering Intern
May - August 2018 • Minneapolis, MN
What I liked
I dealt with challenging engineering problems throughout my stay. The engineering team let me tackle problems similar to what they did on a day to day basis, and always helped me to refine my techniques. I received lots of feedback and support as well. The program was also run very well, with many intern and team events. Minneapolis is a great city, with tons to do during the summer so try not to be put out from having to move for a few months.
What I wish was different
I had several projects wrap up very close to the end of my internship, and it would be nice if I could have seen the effect that they had on the company.
Advice
Talk and connect with everyone you meet if you end up working at this location! There are lots of highly talented and brilliant people who work at VAST, and I hope they will remain connects for me throughout my career.

Marketing Intern
June - August 2018 • Cleveland, OH
What I liked
It gave me more responsibilities than I thought possible with an internship. I can see my work in use throughout the company even while I'm no longer there. I feel as though I had a lasting impact rather than just doing busy work.
What I wish was different
I wish it had been more structured, but it was the first year for my specific position. I still had a great time and think that the "not structured" aspect allowed me to have more responsibilities.
Advice
Be creative and don't be scared to reach out to others to ask how to do things. My boss was very busy, but also extremely happy to help or clarify with any confusions.

Visual Design Professional Apprentice
April 2017 - August 2018 • Cleveland, OH
What I liked
I thoroughly enjoyed that Sherwin-Williams took the time to involve me in large-scale projects with great impact on the company and provided me with identical responsibilities to those of a junior full-time employee. This demonstrated the level of respect they have for their interns and their belief in the importance professional growth has on an individual. Additionally, my team provided me with a plethora of creative secondary tasks which kept me on my feet and allowed me to understand various aspects of Visual Design and UX outside of my immediate job description.
What I wish was different
One thing I wish would have been different is to have better access to parking, but that's an issue you'll find at any Downtown Cleveland location, unfortunately.
Advice
Make sure to understand how much work you are capable of doing at any given time frame, because juggling tasks and meeting deadlines will happen frequently in this position, and your approach to juggling those tasks will need to be communicated to your coworkers and superiors.

What I liked
The internship was very structured with first sending me to a training store and then having a book put together for me to follow along with some normal duties of a worker there
What I wish was different
Nothing, it was very enlightening and I learned a lot about management at a retail level
Advice
Take different kinds of internships. I’ve had two that we’re not that similar and I’ve learned a wide varity of skills and understand more realms of the business world

management intern
May - August 2018 • Chatsworth, CA
What I liked
I liked how I was able to learn about management in particular to running a store. I learned about human resources, inventory control, product knowledge, good customer service skills, financial assessments, and much more. It really helped me apply what I have learned over the years through my education in a more practical real life scenario.
What I wish was different
I think everything was fine and honestly didn't feel like anything else had to be different.
Advice
I would share that its always great to ask consistent questions about the industry you are interning in and also network and develop a mutual friendship with your superiors so you can learn more. You will get the most out of the internship depending on how much you put in.
