Sales and Management Intern
May - August 2019 • San Francisco, CA
What I liked
I enjoyed the ride along with the sales force and my team. I also liked the nature of the project.
What I wish was different
I wish they didn't treat interns like part-time associates. I did more paint mixing than actual sales or management. The project was great but upper management was not very good at guiding teams or participating at all. Upper management usually was condescending or threw us under the bus when executives visited. Also, my locations varied wildly throughout the city because of poor decision making regarding understaffing in central stores, this plus the commute meant I was working 12+ hour workdays and barely had time to breathe.
Advice
Go for an internship that allows more freedom and treats you like a future employee, not a part-time worker.

Advice
I would say build as strong of a network as possible. Do not be afraid to shake a hand or introduce yourself because during the hiring process when people recognize a face it makes a world of a difference. As well as, I would recommend managing time wisely, they give you a lot of free time but you must use it responsibly.
