Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - July 2018 • Kalamazoo, MI

What I liked

The culture is awesome. Teams make an effort to do regular lunches and offsites. The interns organized groups for activities of interest and also planned several weekend trips throughout the summer. Work was always challenging, but doable, and set me up for more learning than I could have imagined.

What I wish was different

A more developed system for transitioning interns to full-timers would be nice. The recruiters who get you the internship are busy recruiting again by time you're looking for offers. A lot of people get left wondering what's going to happen next.

Advice

Don't slack off during work, and enjoy your time with your fellow interns. They have very high expectations, but if you get in they already believe you're fit for a full-time position. The interns are a diverse group of awesome people. They will become some of your best friends, so make the best of the short time you have together. The summer is shorter than you think.

Marketing Intern

June - September 2017 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Relevant, significant work. If I wasn’t doing it, a full-time employee would be. People and company culture were unbelievable as well.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been other interns at my office. Also, full-time offers are given on an as-needed basis, unlike most accounting/management consulting firms which are a definite path to a full time offer.

Advice

Ask questions, network with everyone you meet, build real lasting relationships, work hard but don’t forget to enjoy yourself.

Summer Tax Intern

May - July 2018 • Kalamazoo, MI

What I liked

The culture was incredible and the people were extremely willing to give me advice on anything and everything. Everyone there is so intelligent and made me feel a part of the team.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've done more collaborative work with the other interns and that my position would've been more hands on with the products.

Advice

Take advantage of your manager and their networks and don't be afraid to tell them or your HR partner you want to try something new! They're more receptive than you'd think.
