SiriusXM

Client Services Intern

May - August 2022 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

The team was very supportive and the company gave a lot of opportunities for networking, career development, and exploration during the internship period.

What I wish was different

I wish I took away more technical skills with me. While I learned the overview of the team's work and organization, I can't say confidently that I mastered any of the skills that I've learned during my few months there.

Advice

Network. At a company this size, everyone you meet is a valuable connection. Make yourself stand out by talking to people! Also, be proactive. Reach out first and ask to help out. That'll help you grow and learn.

Radio Programming Intern

What I liked

Everything. The people were helpful and the company does a great job of having their interns do meaningful work, which gave me a great opportunity to grow on my skills and advancement through the company later on in life.

What I wish was different

Absolutely nothing.

Advice

Don’t be afraid if you screw up, because that causes you to make more mistakes. Everyone makes them, but it’s how you bounce back that really shows how good of a worker you are.

Digital Marketing Intern

Advice

I learned a lot from this experience, but one of my biggest pieces of advice would be to jump right in week one. A summer internship might seem slow at the start, but it flies by and it's over before you know it. Diving in as soon as it begins, introducing yourself to as many people as you can, and being curious by asking questions from the start are all beneficial in making the most of the summer.

Promotions & Event Marketing Intern

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked how I was getting experience working in a big city and a big company. I was also working in a team, so it was nice to have people working with at all times.

What I wish was different

They only offer part-time internships, so I wish I could of had a full-time position.

Advice

I would share to always be on time at your internship and always ask if there's anything you can do to help, even when they don't give you a task.

Programming Intern

September 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

One of the most valuable things that I like about my current internship is the amount of hands-on work there is to the internship and the constant communication with my mentors. I believe that those two things are the most important things in looking for an internship - how much experience will you gain and having a mentor that checks on you and your progress. You won't gain too much from just watching your employers work and you won't learn anything if you don't ask.

What I wish was different

I'm still currently working at my internship and if anything what I'm trying to work on right now is not only learning about everything in my position, but to see I can do more of. I think everything that I've been doing has been a great experience, but what will take me to the next level is being more curious about the company, network with other departments, and to just be clear and concise in what I want to achieve before my internship ends.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions - if anything, it's worse if you don't communicate with your boss/mentor. If you see them doing something that you have never learned or you are curious about it, you should definitely ask them to teach you how to do it. You will never grow as an intern or even as a future employer if you never ask them for help or to let them teach you something you've never done before. Communicate, communicate, communicate.
