I recently interned with the Data Analyst team of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA). I entered SIFMA at a period of transition for this team, as it has been in the process of switching CRM programs from ERMA to a new program called Protech. Thus, a large amount of my work has been devoted to a smooth transition process for the Data Analyst team as well as all of SIFMA. My time at SIFMA has been invaluable as I have grown comfortable with a number of new software programs such as Microsoft Excel, Protech, ERMA, and FINRA BrokerCheck.
What I wish was different
I had a great experience and I wouldn’t change a thing. I got so much out of working at SIFMA both personally and professionally.
Advice
Don’t stay in your comfort zone. My background is Accounting and that’s what I know and am comfortable with. I wanted to expand my horizons by experiencing the data analyst world. It turns out I love working with data and technology, and I am considering minoring in computer science now.
