What I liked
It was a fun and fulfilling work environment and I enjoyed helping the people of my district. The supervisors were kind and good at what they did.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have stayed there longer but the summer is only so long.
Advice
Always keep an open-mind for places that may not be related to what your major is but they are still good for the community.

What I liked
I liked being in a small office and getting hands-on experience in public service.
What I wish was different
I wish there were less interns and more hours per intern. My office made us all work part-time in the summer and I feel like I could've contributed more.
Advice
Take initiative! Staff in these offices have extensive workloads and contributing an idea, offering help with a task, or stating interest in a specific area will help them find projects that fit you well.

What I liked
I found the experience to be really fulfulling and hands-on. I was given a lot of responsibility and could work on projects that I found interesting.

Local government can be disorganized at times!
Advice
If you intern in NY City Council, make sure to get to know the office well! It is small so it is important to know everyone!

I loved the team there. Everyone was friendly and dedicated to making the Bronx a better place. Questions were welcomed and encouraged, and every day I learned something new.

What I liked
I liked having access to go to City Hall and being able to listen in on the day-to-day operations of a political office as well as, at times, being able to express my opinions on legislation or events.

When people look for jobs whether your in high school or going into college, it's great to a a job in a field you are interested in so you can gain experience and determine if it's the right fit for you.
