I wish that I could have gotten paid more because I was working 45 hour weeks and was getting slightly more than part-time.

What I liked

I enjoyed working with plus size girls to find them clothes that fit and made them feel beautiful. I also liked some of my coworkers, that I grew quite close to in the short time I worked there.

What I wish was different

Sometimes the atmosphere was a bit rigid, and there were times when attitudes became hostile between other workers, which could make work stressful. I also have joint issues and so being on my feet for long hours can be hard.

Advice

Find a company that you like to work for. I like Lane Bryant because plus size women are at a great disadvantage to find clothes that fit and look good, and LB strives to help.

What I liked

I was able to design hands-on for Lane Bryant. Not only was I able to design actual capsule collections, but I was also able to work with cross-functional teams as well to see the collections all the way through. The internship program was so beneficial and a great way to network.

What I wish was different

I wish the program was more connected with other interns. Since I was the only intern at the Lane Bryant Design office I wasn't able to connect with the other interns in the Columbus office as much.

Advice

Go into the internship with an open mind. I took on more than my initial responsibilities, and I was able to be more of an asset to more colleagues.

Have register experience! Prior sales experience helps a lot. Know what sales are happening throughout the week and have the return policy and others memorized prior to starting (they give you a pamphlet with all that info.) - just helps you understand the job in the long run and shows you're prepared.

Good to figure out what you want to do before you graduate. But it’s not the end of the world if you have to find whatever job is available on the market for a bit to pay the bills.

I loved working with the staff, they were great! I also loved the products we sold, the clothing was beautiful and I also loved the discount. I loved connecting with customers and learning about them and regularly seeing them come in to shop.

I wish that i could have stayed and i didn't have to leave to go back to school.

If you love people and like to wear professional clothing and like working in sales, this job is great for you.

What I liked

LOFT takes care of their associates, which was so nice. They give lovely discounts and regular (annual) wage increases.

What I wish was different

The post-summer rush was very slow, so I wish there had been more foot traffic. I also wish that LOFT trained associates to find a style that they love and that would help them make suggestions to guests who ask for fashion advice.

The indepth experiences I had and the amount of freedom I decided to choose! It was only my supervsior and I, so I got to tag along with meetings, assortment edits, and really had the oppurtunity to speak my opinion with the upcoming products, which was so exciting!
