Growing Gardens of Boulder County

About Growing Gardens of Boulder County

Growing Gardens is a Boulder based non-profit organization established in 1998 with the mission to enrich the lives of the community through sustainable urban agriculture. Growing Gardens helps people experience a direct, deep connection with food, the land and each other through our programs for diverse populations: the Children’s Peace Garden (Ages 3-11), Community Classes, Community Gardens, Growing Gardens Food Project, and Cultiva Youth Project (Ages 12-18). Our activities are centered in the heart of Boulder on 11 acres of land that has been in agricultural use for the past 100 years. We expanded our programming in 2016 to include a 1 acre farm in neighboring Longmont, Colorado, which provides fresh produce and agriculture-based education to the Longmont community. “Boulder was an awesome place to live and work! Growing Gardens has a beautiful view of the mountains. Fellow interns were wonderful! Great mission to teach people about healthy, locally grown food. ”

Food Project Farm Intern

March 2019 - August 2019 Longmont, CO
“I had a great time working on the food project farm. I gained many different skills while farming and working with people of all ages. My mentors were supportive and guided me, but as the internship progressed I was given more responsibility and felt trusted to lead volunteer groups as well as solo farming projects. I grew a lot as a leader during my time at the food project farm and built confidence while having fun with my mentors and various groups that came to work on the farm. Overall, I am very thankful for this experience and while at times exhausting, it was the best kind of exhausting. I can't wait to farm again in the future! ”
