Carrier

Product Safety Engineer Intern

May 2023 • Athens, GA

What I liked

All permanent employees of Carrier are very welcoming and helpful. Relaxed work environment. The company cares for its employees. Surveys are taken and followed up with team/group meetings quarterly to track workplace happiness. Changes are implemented based on the survey feedback, so every employee has a voice.

What I wish was different

I honestly have no complaints about the company. I would recommend working here to anyone. For me personally, I wish my role was a little more technical. The Athens plant focuses more on assembly of product than it does on the inner workings of any given product. The Syracuse plant does/completes/provides the technical side.

Advice

While working here, take advantage of the ability to ask questions to other employees. No one will get upset if you ask questions, about anything.

Quality Engineering CO-op

January - May 2023 • Indianapolis, IN

What I liked

As a quality engineer co-op, I enjoyed the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience in the field. The company culture was very supportive, and my coworkers were always willing to help me learn and grow. I also appreciated the emphasis on safety and quality, which made me feel confident in the work I was doing.

What I wish was different

Although I had a mostly positive experience as a quality engineer co-op at Carrier Corporation, there were a couple of areas where I felt some room for improvement. For instance, there were times when I faced challenges with more complex projects, and I felt like I could have benefited from more guidance and support from my team. Furthermore, the workload could be demanding at times, which made it challenging to maintain a work-life balance. However, these minor drawbacks were outweighed by the many positive aspects of my experience, such as the opportunities for growth and the supportive company culture. Overall, I'm grateful for the valuable experience and skills I gained during my time at Carrier Corporation.

Advice

If you're considering a co-op position as a quality engineer at Carrier Corporation, my advice would be to take advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow. Ask questions, seek out mentorship, and be open to feedback. Also, be prepared to manage your time effectively, as the workload can be demanding. Finally, don't be afraid to speak up if you feel like you need more support or guidance. Your coworkers and supervisors want to see you succeed, so they will likely be willing to help if you ask.

Marketing intern

May - August 2022 • Athens, GA

What I liked

Very friendly people, great marketing experience. My manager let me tell her which marketing functions interested me most and made sure they were the primary areas of focus in my projects.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more chances for me to interact with other interns during the workday. I was in my cubicle away from the other interns and didn’t have a lot of chances to socialize during the day.

Advice

Ask for more work whenever you finish a project, your manager will always have something that you can help out with and learn more.
