I loved spending time with my children and taking care of them. It gave me great experiences for my future job in teaching elementary school.

Communication skills along the whole camp

Be patient. Things will be hard at times but the experience and the relationships formed among the children and staff are worth it.

What I liked

I loved being with the kids doing all sorts of activities. I also loved getting to know the other employees. Everyone was so kind and made it feel like a home away from home.

What I wish was different

I wish I applied sooner, since the application process took a couple weeks. Once I got the job I only had 3 weeks to prepare for it. It would have been nice to have a couple more weeks to process everything and make sure I was all set.

Advice

Just do it! Even if you aren’t 100% sure. I was so skeptical at first, but I’m so happy I had this experience. It can be scary to leave for a couple months and move to somewhere new, but it taught me so much! Also, be patient! You are dealing with kids after all, there are going to be super fun times, and there are going to be some frustrating times. Just know to take it day by day and keep an open mind.
