2017-18 Graphic Design Intern - Toppel

As a graphic design intern, you are responsible for creating a variety of professional and visually appealing marketing products for diverse audiences. You will design logos, brochures, posters, fliers, and other print and electronic materials that reflect the high-quality standards of the Toppel Career Center. This position requires independent judgment and intermediate to advanced graphic design skills and works under the direction of the Associate Director for Assessment & Communication.

Required Qualifications:

  • Intermediate to advanced graphic design skills
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Adobe InDesign
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office
    • MS Outlook
    • MS Word
  • Creativity
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong work ethic

Desired Qualifications:

  • Work-Study or Miami Commitment preferred
  • Major in communications or field related to graphic design
  • Knowledge of /experience working with web-based Content Management Systems
  • iMovie, Final Cut Pro, or Adobe After Effects
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Flash
  • HTML
    • Adobe Dreamweaver


Job Duties:

  • Develop, design, produce, print, and distribute departmental media, including but not limited to manuals, training materials, educational and promotional flyers, brochures, and posters
  • Provide editorial and copy-writing assistance
  • Assist in researching and implementing effective public relations strategies to improve marketing
  • Assist in evaluating strengths and weaknesses of all current marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal clients during the design process

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Attend appropriate staff meetings.
  • Complete and submit to the Communications Specialist a weekly status report of assigned projects.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Director of Assessment & Communication
