Human Resources Intern - Risk and Safety

General Statement Of Duties: The Administrative Aide assists the Administrative Services Department in various research and analysis projects and tasks.  Performs additional job-related duties as required.
 
Distinguishing Features Of The Class: An employee in this classification provides research and writing in the primary area of Risk Management. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Services Director.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES PERFORMED:

  • Create new hire and safety training videos for new and existing employees.
  • Create district-wide online Safety Data Sheets.
  • Assist the Human Resources Coordinator.
  • Assist with managing and promoting the Safety Incentive Program.
  • Update the internal website.  
  • Update facility safety procedures and manuals.
  • Create a process for safety inspections at various facilities.
  • Prepare reports regarding general department information.
  • May type correspondence, memos, calendars, rosters, and lists.
  • Assist in the coordination of the District's Safety and Wellness Fair.
  • Record and file Administrative Services Departmental documents and assist with retention.
  • Act as a temporary member on the Safety Committee.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service. Create a positive experience for patrons and staff through professional and courteous behavior and creative problem resolution.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of principles and practices in the administration of risk management and programs; report writing; general office practices and procedures.
 
Skills: Good writing skills; effective and positive interpersonal communications; strong computer skills, including word processing, and spreadsheet software.
 
Abilities: Prepare clear and concise reports; research and compile data; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; prepare drawings, charts, and spreadsheets if needed; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other District staff..
 
Physical Demands Of Position: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 15 pounds on a regular basis such as files, books, and office equipment. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computers, keyboards, telephones, calculators, and standard office equipment. Experience And Training: Pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration, recreation, business management, or related field. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license is desirable.
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Hours/Shift: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Will accommodate summer school schedule.
