Assessment Intern

At Rocky Mountain Prep, we are relentless about providing an outstanding education for each and every scholar. One of the keys to differentiating our instruction to fit student needs and abilities is the process of regular assessment and data analysis. We’re looking for a high-achieving, motivated undergraduate or graduate student for a summer internship working directly with our Director of Data and core members of our Network Academic Team. The Assessments Summer Intern will be in charge of a ten-week project to take our weekly assessment system digital. We believe interns should take away as much from their experiences as the effort they put in, so we format our internships such that they fully own a summer project from start to finish and garner new skills along the way.

The RMP Assessments and Analysis Summer Intern will need the following skills to succeed:

-       Eye for detail – whether looking for a spelling mistake or checking that a spreadsheet has the right number of columns.

-       Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint or equivalently Google Docs, Sheets & Slides. We will provide training on Excel, but must be interested and willing to learn more if not currently comfortable.

-       Interest in K-5 education and curriculum.

-       Self-motivated and able to stay on-track with project deadlines.

There are many public charter schools and many models. Rocky Mountain Prep prides itself on being different. Our model has made us one of the most successful networks in Denver - leading our scholars to both academic success, and more importantly, to a love of learning rooted in a joyful school and a tight-knit community.

Within the first month you’ll…

-       Learn how to use our assessment tracking platform

-       Be familiar with the complete list of weekly and monthly math assessments used by our teachers

-       Become comfortable using excel to format a file

-       Meet with former teachers to understand the principles behind our curriculum

Your summer project will culminate with…

-       Completing the transfer of all of RMP’s assessments into the new system

-       Creation of a robust and easy-to-use guide for teachers on how to use the system

-       Creating sample reports from demo data to demonstrate the value of the system

We expect this internship will be a valuable experience for undergraduates interested in teaching, K-5 pedagogy, innovative teaching practices, education management and/or charter school operations. This internship experience would also be valuable to undergraduates who are interested in ed-tech startups as you will gain exposure to our locally based ed-tech partner.
