Don Bosco Marketing and Development Assistant VISTA
The Don Bosco Senior Center serves hot, nutritious meals to over 650 senior citizens and adults with exceptionalities every Monday through Friday. We offer academic, recreational, and physical classes or activities each day and provide transportation to/from our center. Client advocates assist seniors in finding resources to handle emergency situations, attain necessary medical equipment, or find solutions to a wide range of other issues. Through a partnership with Literacy KC, we offer an ESL education and workforce certification to refugee and immigrant adults at eight different levels. We also have a community center that houses a commercial kitchen and a space for another nonprofit. There is a newly refurbished gym that offers space in that center for classes, games, meetings, and other events.
Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA member will help to tell our clients’ stories and help to reach and engage community supporters. They will work to increase supporter engagement and donor investment in special events, fundraising campaigns, and friend-raising activities. Activities to attain these goals will include organizing and helping to facilitate our four fundraisers, interviewing/video recording senior clients, creating marketing content, and engaging new donors.
