Your Role and Responsibilities
This is an Early Professional role that starts in 2023The Weather Company, an IBM Business, is seeking a driven, energetic social media coordinator for a new early-career role. You will work with a team of journalists to speak to a social audience of more than 10 million as we work to deliver life-saving forecasts and award-winning storytelling. The ideal candidate is comfortable with the pace of a breaking news team, has experience in running social campaigns for a major media company, and knows what attracts a new audience to a well-known, respected brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Ideate and post original social media content to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok.
– Lead social campaigns around our editorial coverage.
– Monitor ever-changing social media trends and help communicate those changes to the rest of the team.
– React and respond to key KPIs to drive growth and retention of followers.
– Respond to breaking news and deliver important content to our audience at a moment’s notice.
– May occasionally write non-social material for weather.com.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
– 1 year professional experience as a social editor, preferably for a news/media company
– Must include a reel showcasing strong work and experience
– Basic photo and video editing skills
– A deep understanding of social media metrics
– Experience with analytics tools, preferably Amplitude
– Comfort working in a high-stress breaking news environment; Experience working in a newsroom preferred

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 1-2 years professional experience as a social editor, preferably for a news/media company
  • 1 or more years of job-related experience in product management, product development,
  • Bachelors degree

The compensation range for this position is based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
