Environmental Engineer

Position Summary
 
 This position will work as a strategic partner with production staff to prepare and maintain permits, permit applications and associated plans involved with maintaining current Ready Mix, Asphalt and Aggregate Mining Facilities. This position will also provide environmental regulatory assistance when opening new facilities including managing applications and submittals, plan preparation, coordinating necessary studies and attending required inspections and meetings.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to local, state and federal permitting and reporting (NPDES, CAA, RCRA, CWA, EPCRA, MBTA) , environmental plan development (SWMP, SPCC, FERP, etc.), employee training, regulatory and corporate policy compliance, internal audits and regulatory inspections of sites. Additional duties may include: ongoing improvement related to air and water quality, wetlands permitting, water appropriation and associated environmental media.
 
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science or closely related discipline or equivalent experience required
  • 0 - 5 years environmental permitting and/or regulatory reporting.
  • Prior experience with environmental compliance preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations, such as, The Clean Water Act, The Clean Air Act, The Oil Pollution Act, and the requirements for Section 404 permitting
  • Resourceful, able to quickly and effectively research topics and answer questions
  • Strong communication skills, customer service skills and leadership capabilities
  • Excellent analytical and judgment skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem solving skills and experience developing solutions in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced multimedia environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout designated regions/states (~10% overnight travel)
