Essential Job Functions
•         Controls development of locomotive systems, from requirements development to model development, testing and validating designs on locomotive and in the simulation lab. Utilizing tools like Matlab, Simulink, Doors and ClearQuest. 
•         Execute a variety of projects from follow-on orders (Requisitions), ensuring proper definition of requirements and interfaces for systems 
•         Design, integrate, implement and validate subsystem functions and Human Machine Interface for locomotive, suitable for application in both English and non-English speaking environments 
•         Use sound engineering principles and adhere to business standards, practices, and procedures, to develop product / program requirements 
•         Lead/support investigation, root-cause identification, and resolution of reliability issues
•         Present to customers and suppliers and lead technical endeavors to develop technologies for the railroad industry 
•         Ensure that the documentation of technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures 
•         Become the program representative for requisitions, managing schedule, outward communication of successes and failures

Qualifications
Required
•         Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Engineering 
•         At least 1 years of experience in an engineering position 
•         At least 1 year of experience with control design, diagnostics, and test 
•         Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and on locomotives with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems Desired Characteristics

Desired 
•         Experience with MATLab Simulink or other Modeling tools 
•         Experience with developing Serial and Ethernet Interfaces 
•         Experience with system and component level validation testing 
•         Experience with transportation/locomotive systems control design and test 
•         Experience with Human Machine Interface and human factors analysis for embedded systems 
•         Experience with Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) tools (i.e. FMEA, Score Cards) 
•         Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems 
•         At least 1 year of experience working with Train Control systems 
•         Solid oral and written communication skills 
•         Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 
•         PC proficiency
