Basic Qualifications:  

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field. A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on system design.

Responsibilities for this Position

HCL is seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer, with emphasis in Mechanical design, to join us in our Peoria, IL location. This is a great opportunity to use and grow your understanding of mechanical engineering concepts as it relates to our products.

As an Entry-level Mechanical Engineer you will be able to spend your first few months diving into specific assignments that will help develop your technical skills. Assignments will include design, detailing and integration of hydraulic components, Electrical components, light& heavy structure components, engine & cooling systems. In conjunction with an opportunity to be trained in HCL technology and practices, you will be assigned to a program with defined performance expectations and deadlines. You’ll get to network with new and experienced teammates.

The Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer is responsible for Research, design, develop, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Applying principles and techniques of Mechanical Engineering.

  • Research, design, and develop, machines and other mechanical devices.

  • Designs using 3D tools to execute the design process

  • Select materials and choose manufacturing processes for the given designs based on the performance, life, regulatory, design-to-cost, etc…requirements

  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.

  • To prepare and release design documents with required tolerancing, GD&T, etc....detailing

  • Design & Technical Reviews and implement necessary design changes

  • Support Product Verification & Validation functions

  • Effectively and efficiently working with other team members to include other design engineers, systems engineer, software engineers, project managers, customers and suppliers.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of 3D modeling, 2D Engineering drawing ( preferably with PTC Creo or ProE) and GD&T

  • Knowledge of various manufacturing methods of plastics and metals (fabrication, forming, casting, forging etc)

  • Good to Advanced understanding of Solid Mechanics and Mechanics of Machines

  • Good understanding of Thermodynamics & fluid Mechanics

  • Good written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to recognize and clearly report information relevant to sound Mechanical engineering design

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
