Design & Art Direction Intern

ROLE: Design & Art Direction Intern

Summer/Fall 2026 | Paid | Hybrid NYC

ABOUT MILK AGENCY

Born from Milk Studios, a cornerstone of New York’s downtown creative scene for over two decades, Milk Agency is a full-service creative company that opens brands to new systems of culture and collaboration.

We’re seeking a Creative (Design & Art Direction) Intern — a visual thinker, culture sponge, and typography nerd who’s as excited about building big campaign concepts as they are about laying out a killer deck. This is an opportunity to flex both your graphic design and art direction muscles—supporting the creative team across brand, digital, content, and campaign work for some of the world’s most interesting brands.

DETAILS

• Duration: 3 months

• Compensation: $20/hr

• Time Commitment:  Flexible, up to 30 hours/week

• Location: Hybrid NYC preferred (2x/week in-office)

• Credit: School credit available if applicable

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Collaborate with the creative team on branding, campaign, and content work

• Participate in brainstorms and bring strong conceptual thinking to the table

• Support the development of visual identities, brand worlds, and storytelling systems

• Contribute to presentation decks, pitch visuals, social content, and internal initiatives

• Help gather references, build moodboards, and assist with art direction for shoots

• Work across typography, layout, photography, motion, and emerging formats

• Help evolve Milk’s own brand presence across digital and IRL touchpoints

WHO YOU ARE

• A senior design student, recent graduate, or current MFA candidate

• A visual storyteller who’s fluent in both graphic design and creative concepting

• Passionate about typography, layout, hierarchy, and design systems

• Strong portfolio that shows both thinking and craft — not just templates

• Proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)

• Familiarity with Video/AI, After Effects, or 3D tools is a plus

• Obsessed with culture—fashion, tech, film, photography, art, and the internet

• Organized, independent, and not afraid to share your point of view

TO APPLY

Send your portfolio, resume, and a short note about why you’re interested. Only candidates with a portfolio will be considered.
