Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI)
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-based only)
Hours: Part-time (<20 hours/week)
The Family Online Safety Institute is an international, non-profit organization that works to make the online world safer for kids and their families. FOSI convenes leaders in industry, government, and the non-profit sectors to collaborate and innovate new solutions and policies in the field of online safety. Through research, resources, events, and special projects, FOSI promotes a culture of responsibility online and encourages a sense of digital citizenship for all. FOSI brings together and highlights the best safety messages, tools, and methods to reach parents, children, and caregivers. We continually expand our efforts to educate and inform governments, regulators, industry, and media around the world on a balanced approach to online safety.
FOSI is seeking a creative and tech-savvy Marketing & Digital Communications Intern to join our communications team. This position is ideal for a graduate student in marketing, digital media, or a related field who wants to gain hands-on experience managing digital strategy for a globally recognized nonprofit.
The intern will work remotely under the direction of FOSI’s Brand Marketing & Strategic Communications team to strengthen FOSI’s digital footprint, amplify visibility, and expand engagement across web and social platforms.
Responsibilities and Duties
Digital Marketing & Web Support
Update and maintain FOSI’s WordPress website (training provided if needed).
Conduct quality assurance (QA) checks across webpages, publications, and event listings.
Assist with SEO optimization and analytics tracking to monitor web traffic and performance.
Support the implementation of marketing campaigns and digital content updates.
Social Media & Content Amplification
Collaborate on content calendars and assist in scheduling posts across LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
Draft and design social posts, graphics, and short videos to support both organic and paid campaigns.
Monitor engagement data, analyze performance trends, and recommend strategies for audience growth.
Amplify content from FOSI’s programs, events, and research initiatives to increase visibility.
Communications & Creative Coordination
Partner with PR and research teams to ensure message consistency across FOSI reports, newsletters, and press materials.
Support development of digital assets, infographics, and one-pagers for funder and partner outreach.
Contribute to marketing and promotional efforts for FOSI’s Annual Conference and major publications.
Qualifications
Current graduate student in Marketing, Digital Media, or related field.
Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
Experience managing or creating social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube).
Proficiency in Google Workspace and any project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Notion).
Experience with WordPress or other content management systems.
Basic understanding of SEO, Google Analytics, or paid digital campaigns.
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.

Compensation
This is a paid, remote internship ($18.50/hour).
Academic credit may also be arranged in coordination with your university.
