What I liked

I liked that I was given task jobs in addition to cashiering so I could use the different skills I have.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had been trained more on store processes and management had been more organized. Often times, I would be performing a task in one way that a manager suggested, but then told I was doing it wrong by another manager.

Advice

I would suggest being firm and fulfilling only the responsibilities and obligations that are called to you. For example, I was always taking shifts in the summer, and this soon turned into assumptions being made about my schedule when school began. It felt like I was being taken advantage of when I was saying yes and it turned into a schedule I couldn't handle. It felt like other workers did not want to help out, and many shifts would go unfilled.

What I liked

I've gained a lot of knowledge about several beauty supplies. I am trained in makeup application, product knowledge, cashiering, and tasking. I love being able to apply makeup to others and teach customers about new products.

What I wish was different

my management did not like to talk to us. we were very scared of corporate. felt like we all had to walk on eggshells.

be open to learn! be able to absorb information about different products daily.

Working at Ulta was a great job and I definitely recommend it for college students. They always worked around my school schedule. If you get the chance to work at multiple locations, definitely take the opportunity.
