Our mission: We believe in preserving our environment while inspiring the human spirit through leadership in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine life; environmental education; research; and conservation. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium staff and volunteers work each day to rescue marine life and provide the most advanced and effective care to maximize the opportunity to return sick or injured animals to their homes. The animals that come through our doors arrive because they are suffering from an illness or severe injury. Many of our animals are found by local residents, fishermen, park rangers or even visitors to the area.
A majority of our resident animals cannot be released due to a variety of reasons, so you will see them in permanent habitats and learn their rescue stories. You’ll also see a number of animals receiving daily medical care or undergoing rehabilitation in our working animal hospital.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a leader in marine mammal research and environmental conservation throughout Florida and the world. From monitoring the health and population of dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico to implementing conservation strategies to protect the manatee species in the Caribbean, our team collaborates with scientific partners across the globe to protect marine animals and their habitats.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) offers structured internships to current full-time or part-time college students (or recent graduates within 12 months of course completion) that will directly benefit their education and ultimately their career.
